Weddings are an important time in anybody’s life and it can get stressful. That’s why people delegate certain duties to their relatives and loved ones. When the boy was preparing to get married, he gave his dad a list of friends he wanted invited to his wedding. Handing over a list of names and numbers, he instructed his dad to invite all of them.
The big day came and he didn’t see the 50 friends he had told his dad to invite. Upset he went up to his dad and asked him. “Dad, I told you to call my friends, but I see only 15 of my friends here!” His dad replied gently, “I did call all of them.” But this man was smart. He said he personally called up each person on the list but instead of telling them it was his son’s wedding, he told them that his son was in trouble and needed their help. After giving them the time and date to meet his son to help him, only 15 of the 50 invited showed up.
This explanation revealed who his true friends were. His dad told him, “I did invite your friends, and your friends showed up.” This is a true life lesson that we should all learn from. We are all surrounded by acquaintances and so-called-friends, but it only in times of trouble do we get to know who is our anchor in a storm. In a world where a lot of communication is not done face to face, it is easy to get confused by how many friends we have – especially if we are very active on social media.
