Accidents and emergencies happen in public everyday, and when they do, we can only hope that either we are prepared or someone who can help is nearby. What can be even scarier is to see someone you love in a life-threatening situation and know that you have no idea what you are supposed to do.
17 year-old Abby Snodgrass was walking through Wal-Mart when she suddenly heard a scream. There was a crowd of panicked people forming, none of whom knew what to do. When Abby saw what had happened she knew exactly what needed to be done. Abby was the only person in this crowd that was able to help.
A mother had been walking through Wal-Mart with her infant child. She looked down and was shocked to see that her child had stopped breathing and was not responsive at all. No one knew what to do, and this child’s life was at risk. Fortunately, Abby had just recently taken a course to learn CPR, and she was about to use those skills for the first time. Within minutes, Abby had taken charge of the situation and revived the child ‘s breathing, saving its life just in time.
