One of the most memorable moments in a couple’s life is expecting a baby. Each one is special, regardless if it’s the first, second or third. Knowing the baby’s is a rewarding experience. For men, they want to know everything about a baby. They buy books on caring for a pregnant mother, what to expect. The mother tries to relax and take it easy. Everyone tells them that once the baby is born, their lives will never be the same.
I remember going to that first doctor’s appointment. I thought I was not going to get nervous, but I did. We got there and the only thing on my mind was knowing if the baby was okay. I didn’t really care if the baby was a boy or a girl. I just wanted the baby to be healthy. When the doctor asked us if we wanted to know the gender, we immediately said yes.
Some people prefer not to know the gender. The idea of being it a surprise is also appealing to many. I know you must buy neutral colors. So, it’s like yellows, whites and maybe greens. Once you know the gender you can’t help planning their whole lives for them. What they are going to be when they grow up. If they are going to follow your footsteps. What school they are going to go.
A creative idea that people use is to have someone else read it. This is sharing that special moment with someone else. This person becomes closer to your family and to the baby. Choosing someone to carry out this is not always easy. Whose family member do you pick? What if you choose someone over another and they get jealous?
For Wesley and Katy Hansen, the answer was obvious. They came up with an idea which also was a dream. They have always been fans of Garth Brooks. They enjoy his music and his concerts. The ultrasound results would be ready one day before his concert. Why not ask him to reveal the gender in front of everyone?
They go to the concert and Katy makes a sing with the hope of getting Garth’s attention. The sign read, “Working on a full house. Boy? Girl?” They were a little far away. It would be hard for Garth to see it. Why not just open it themselves? To their surprise, Garth sees it and invites them to the front of the stage. What happens next far exceeds their expectations!
