It’s always fascinating to see animals interact with new toys. My cats always do the same thing with any new cat toy – they sniff it for a second… then they will tentatively tap it with one of their front paws. Next, they start slowly batting it around… and then it’s full-on playtime for them. Of course, since they are cats, their attention span is around 10 minutes and then they go off to other things. This animal, though, has a bit of a different reaction.
We see Boo, a capuchin monkey, and his daddy sitting on a sofa. His daddy got a little container of Silly Putty, which is in its usual egg-shaped container. Boo, after cracking open the container with his teeth, takes the putty and tries to eat it. His daddy quickly yanks it out of his mouth. After that, the daddy takes the putty and rolls it into a longer shape. Boo’s reaction to this is very interesting.
Boo does NOT like this putty. Every time his daddy holds it out or tosses it to him he either catches it and tosses it away like it’s a piece of steaming hot lava or he swats it away from his daddy’s hand. The daddy even jokes that this is his Kryptonite. While he doesn’t completely freak out, he does show discomfort by constantly rubbing his hands together after he comes into contact with the putty. His daddy is so patient throughout the whole thing though.
Some people pointed out that when Boo’s daddy stretched out the Silly Putty, it looked like a long green snake, which is decidedly NOT something that capuchin monkeys like. That might explain why Boo kept slapping it out of his hand. Maybe he thought he was saving him from possibly being bitten by a poisonous snake. It wouldn’t be out of the realm of Boo’s logic. In any case, there won’t be any more silly putty in Boo’s household.
