Dolly Parton Joined By Her Sisters For Heartwarming Rendition Of “Oh, Little Town Of Bethlehem”

Dolly Parton has filmed a number of Christmas specials over the years, and is slated to have a new one out this holiday season. One of our favorites was the special from 1990, which Parton filmed in her hometown of Sevierville, Tennessee.

Bringing friends and family to the stage to perform carols with her, Parton created a very homey and cozy feel for this special.

“I used my mom and dad,” she said, “my brothers and sisters, my aunts and uncles, and my nieces and nephews. We have things like cookie baking, and a hayride, and we just have some wonderful times that I really think people are going to enjoy.”

The television special, Home For Christmas, was released alongside her Christmas album of the same name. The album was a follow-up to her 1984 holiday duet album with Kenny Chesney titled Once Upon A Christmas which featured classic songs and original compositions. Unlike the duet album, Home For Christmas is packed full of holiday classics.

“I’ve always wanted to do a Christmas album of the all old traditional songs that I’ve always loved the best,” Dolly told ET in 1990. “I don’t like new Christmas songs– even if I do write them!”
