If you love Christmas music, then you’re going to flip over this beautiful Christmas hymn sung by 22-year-old Jordan Smith from Kentucky. Jordan chose the popular Christmas carol “Mary, Did You Know?” as his finale performance on The Voice. What he did with this classic song still gives me chills. Hearing Smith sing it is like hearing it for the first time all over again.
Over the last year, Smith has released his own top-selling album and performed on The People’s Choice Awards. No surprise there, if you’ve ever heard this talented sing perform. His releases while on The Voice consistently hit the iTunes top ten charts. He even outsold Adele!
He did such a great job with this song that the song’s writer, Christian comedian Mark Lowry, took to FaceBook with his praise. He said Smith’s version of the song was “spectacular and anointed”.
But in case you think his popularity would go to Smith’s head, interviews prove he’s just as humble and grateful as ever. His parents are musicians and they raised him to be in the church choir from a young age. He recently told Parade Magazine that “every week I am just shocked. It still doesn’t seem real. Every week, I am surprised and blown away, and humbled by it, honestly.”
