Meet Keeva. She’s just a baby. She lives at the Maryland Zoo and she was forcefully separated from her mother, Carole.
Unfortunately, Carole was not coping well with motherhood and Keeva was not getting the care she needed. She was quickly becoming week and losing her strength. Without intervention she would lose her life.
It was clear that Keeva needed a surrogate mother to care for her. Her human caretakers needed a mother. They chose Abby, a chimp in Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo to take care of Keeva. She was the perfect mother for this job.
