Kelly Clarkson and Josh Groban are two of the most renowned and talented singers of our time. Their voices, respectively, have earned them high praise in wide circles, from fans and critics alike.
About a year ago, Groban and Clarkson joined forces to perform a duet from the popular musical Phantom of the Opera. “They sang “All I ask Of You”, one of the musical’s most well-known and well-loved pieces.
The song is a duet between the characters Christine and Raoul. Christine is the main heroine, and in the musical Raoul is her boyfriend. Raoul promises to keep her safe forever, while unbeknownst to them the Phantom lurks in the background, plotting to win Christine’s devotion.
Groban starts the song, wowing the audience with his velvety vocals. When Clarkson joins in for her part, the audience is awed by her powerful and melodic tones. The two together, singing about love and fear, is enchanting.
The set for the performance lends to the air of magic and intrigue. Giant chandeliers hang from the ceiling, and smoke billows softly across the stage, making the scene almost dreamlike.
