Usually you have an idea of what you’re going to see when you look out your kitchen window. Your yard. Your driveway. The woods. A city block. You grow familiar with your surroundings, and any change is instantly noticed. Like looking outside and seeing your husband rolling on the grass with a horse and a dog. Yup. That’ll snap you to attention.
It was all quite innocent. The three of them were having fun outside and I guess one of them flopped onto his back. That caused the other two to follow suit, though I’d be worried about the horse managing to get back up – they sleep on their feet for a reason. Nobody seemed to worried though – they were focused on being silly on the grass. If we could all get rid of our worries that way…
This scene sounds like it’s something out of a Monty Python sketch. “Yes. We are here with this Zen Relaxation class. Please greet the other participants.” “But they are a horse and a dog!” “Now… the first lesson here is to shed all judgments that you may have of others.” “This is so bloody stupid…” “Someone needs to roll on the grass…” “But these are new clothes!” I’m picturing John Cleese and Michael Palin in this, for some reason.
I guess the lesson is: Always expect the unexpected when looking anywhere. That’s practically a mantra of mine anyway. I grew up in New York City during the 1980s and saw anything from a guy walking with a monkey on his shoulder to another person who had a giant lizard hanging on his back like a backpack. But even this scene had me shaking my head and laughing.
