Recently, I just wrote about a woman who found a baby bird whose egg had fallen out of a nest. That was a pretty amazing story and it was awesome to see the bird grow and develop such a bond with his rescuer. This story doesn’t have quite the same ending, but the video for it is so precious that it’s just impossible to not share with everyone. It involves a man and a baby squirrel, so get your popcorn ready.
A man was outside cleaning his pool one day and he saw a baby squirrel nearby. This squirrel sized him up and thought, “BUDDY!” The next thing we see is the squirrel bolting straight for him and climbing up the man’s leg to get to his arm. I don’t think that’s what he was expecting, but he rolled with it. That’s one calm man for you. He tries to put the squirrel down and gets the same result.
This baby squirrel has NO intention of leaving his new best buddy alone. No sirree… he wants to rest in this fellow’s hand, maybe playfully nip the fingers of such said hand. It’s a good thing that this is a beautiful day, because otherwise the man might have had to bring the squirrel inside at some point, and that might have changed the eventual narrative of this whole story. But… it did not turn out that way.
The squirrel did not imprint on the man, unlike another video that I wrote about where a baby squirrel fell out of a tree and wound up being adopted by a female cat and also hanging out with the cat’s daddy, most often in his shirt pocket. Yes, I know that sounds like a Pixar movie, doesn’t it? No, this squirrel regained his old ways and is not interest in the least in hanging out with humans. Maybe if he gets bonked on the head with an acorn… No, that would be another Pixar movie.
That was so cool. The closest thing I’ve seen is when the pigeons in London flock people who hold food out. They literally cover them It’s both the most awesome thing I’ve ever seen and also makes me want to stand in a shower for hours. What would you do?
