He Posted A Photo Of His Lost Dog, What Arrived In His Inbox Made Him Run Out The Door

Barry Gearhart had raised his dog Titan since he was a puppy. Naturally, they had a very strong bond. So it’s hard to imagine how Gearhart felt one day when he came back to his truck, parked on the street in West Palm Beach, Florida, only to find that his beloved pit bull had been stolen. Gearhart was devastated, calling it “the worst day of my life.” For an entire year, he searched for his missing dog, pounding the pavement and posting photos on the internet, all to no avail. “I cried every day for a year for this dog.” Still, he never gave up the search.

Meanwhile, Titan had been picked up as a stray by animal control officers and sent to a shelter. They nursed him back to health but because he was getting on in years, his prospects for being adopted weren’t particularly good. Still, they gave him socialization classes in the hope of making him more appealing. They also named him Hank. Despite the shelter’s efforts, they had no luck finding anyone to adopt him and because of space limitations, he was scheduled to be euthanized.

Just two days before “Hank” was due to be put to sleep, Gearhart got a comment on a photo he’d posted of Titan. Someone told him that Titan looked just like Hank, the dog at the shelter. He rushed to the shelter and, sure enough, “Hank” really was his old friend Titan. A local television station had picked up on the story and had a news crew there to capture the emotional reunion. We’ve posted the video for you below.
