Scotty McCreery was the 10th winner of American Idol in 2011. A year later he was accepted into Grand Ole Opry, and this video is one of the songs he sang at the Opry. It was a cover of “The Dance” by Garth Brooks, probably his second most popular song after the brilliant “Friends in Low Places.”

“The Dance” is a quintessential country pop song with a bit of twang. It is a love ballad, and like all love songs, you will have to believe the singer. It is well worth your while to check out this video because it is impossible not to like this cover of “The Dance.”

What becomes immediately apparent is that Scotty McCreery has the perfect voice for county and male vocal jazz. Just a year after American Idol and he was already a seasoned singer.

According to his official website, Scotty first hit the music scene at the young age of 17. After appearing on “American Idol,” the release of his debut album became the best-selling solo album of a country singer of the year. He was also the youngest man and first country artist to appear on all-genre Billboard Top 200.

Scotty’s success continues to this day. He won various awards including Album of the Year and the Breakthrough Artist Award. In May he released his first book, “Go Big or Go Home: The Journey Toward the Dream,” which journals his beginnings and his challenges as a young star.
