So has anyone ever heard of Caramel Snickerdoodles? Has anyone ever tasted a caramel snickerdoodle? I mean, who even gave them the name of “snicker doodle”? That is a made up name whatever way you look at it, and it is so spot on, don’t you agree? Just the name makes you want to laugh out loud in delight.
Once I made them and took them to the office – they did not last long. Everyone at the office was commenting on how tasty they were, how ‘caramelly’ they were, and how ‘moreish’ they were. Then I made more at home, and again, they were finished before I could even have one myself! Heavens, am I doomed to be the maker and not the taker?!
You do not only have to use caramel inside these delicious delights. You can get creative and experiment. What about a slice of a pie apple together with the caramel – sound good? Yeah, I think that would work very well – a mouth-watering version of the plain apple tart! Or you might like to try banana and syrup – oh, how decadent and delicious!
Some clever bakers have gone as far as changing the sweet snack into a sweet and savory one – before baking them in the over, sprinkle a few salt flakes on top of the dough.
Right, let’s have a look at how you make these gorgeous little goodies. People who have made them before say it is the easiest recipe they have ever made. . .
Ingredients
1 tube Crescent Rolled Dough
1 pkt Caramel candies – one caramel for each doodle
1 cup cinnamon or sugar
Method
Put one caramel candy on each piece of dough and wrap it up
Roll it into a ball between the palms of your hands
Drop each ball into the cinnamon or sugar and coat it well
Arrange on a baking tray about 1” apart
Bake at 350 for ± 12 minutes, or until firm and spongy
Serve warm
