Tween Boy Sees Story About Girl Fighting Brain Tumor. His Selfless Act Gave Me Chills.

There are times in one’s life when an urge to do the right thing becomes too strong to ignore. It can be anything from picking up the person behind you’s grocery bill, to helping an elderly lady across the street to returning a lost wallet with all the money intact.

Jesse was a tween boy getting ready for his bar mitzvah. He saw a story in the newspaper about a girl named Jasmine who was fighting a brain tumor. Moved by what he saw, he sent her $20 for her travel expenses. As fate would have it, he met her at school a year later. The two have been best friends ever since. Jesse saw that Jasmine’s mother was struggling with bills and gave the $5,000 that he received for his bar mitzvah. Ellen Degeneres heard about this and had the duo appear on her show, where she gave her money and other goodies.

The most endearing part of the video is when Jim Parsons, who plays Sheldon Cooper on “The Big Bang Theory” came out and greeted both of them. Jasmine was SO in shell shock that she barely spoke. Parsons was so warm and kind. He spoke of their being his heroes. A staffer then whisked out two giant boxes of “Big Bang Theory” swag and the two best friends were invited to go to a taping of the show. I think at that point I would have passed out.

There are some people who are just inherently good. Jesse is one of them. He didn’t do what he did for Jasmine so that he could go on a talk show and get a bunch of cool items. He did it because it was the right thing to do. How many kids would give five thousand dollars to a complete stranger? He’s going to have a very good life, because I believe in karma. This is only the beginning.

Ellen always has these amazing feel-good stories on her show, but this was one of the best ones yet. What did you think? Didn’t these two kids deserve all the awesome things they got? We’d love to hear your thoughts.
