100-Year-Old World War II Vet Walks 100 Miles to Raise Money for Relief Fund

Some people in life impress us over and over again. Mickey Nelson from Minnesota was a World War II veteran who decided to go on an adventure to help others, despite being 100 years old.

Mickey wanted to walk 100 miles to help raise money for a COVID relief fund. He felt called by God and thought going for a long walk was the least he could do to help all of those affected by the pandemic.

Nelson’s original goal was to raise $5,000 to donate to the Salvation Army by the end of his journey. He started walking towards the end of May and had no idea what was in store by the time he crossed the finish line.

Mickey joyfully completed all 100 miles in just a couple of months and found himself inspiring thousands of locals. With all of the money his supporters chipped in, Mickey helped raise over $100,000 for those in need.
