A man holding a sign sits on a bench surrounded by reporters and cameras in a wooded area.

There are some amazing stories out there in the community, but you would find few that would be more impressive than the story of Thayne Hamilton and his wife Christine. Thayne and Christine started rescuing dogs in their home.

Soon the dog shelter, newly named the Grey Muzzle Rescue Centre, was a big deal in the animal rescue scene. They had taken in more than 20 rescue dogs and they were very passionate about seeing the best possible outcome for abused and destitute dogs.

But it was then that disaster finally struck. Christine received a terminal diagnosis for a medical condition. Instead of taking whatever medical treatments she could find to try and stave off death you extra days months, she made Thayne promise that he would continue their work rescuing dogs.
