Mother Nature can sometimes be a very fickle beast. You can never quite predict what is going to happen and sometimes you get a surprise. While many of those surprises may well be a bad thing, the incredible news that this family got was simply amazing.
Their American Paint Horse, a 16-year-old named Tiki, was showing symptoms that she had become pregnant. At her extreme age is not impossible for a mare to become pregnant, so they took her to a vet to investigate.
When the vet did an ultrasound on the expecting mother they found something very special. Tiki was pregnant with twin foals. Twins are incredibly rare in horses, about 1 in 10,000. Everybody was completely surprised at this amazing development. But in a few months, they would be blessed by two healthy foals.
