19-Year-Old Impresses Blake Shelton With Unique Cover of “Forever Young” During Audition

We’ve all seen our fair share of amazing auditions on television talent shows like The Voice. With her unique vocal tone, one 19-year-old left judge Blake Shelton in awe. Her rendition of “Forever Young” is one for the books.

Kailey Abel got onstage in front of the celebrity judges panel and an entire theater filled with strangers. She chose to sing the 1984 hit “Forever Young” that was originally recorded by a German band called Alphaville.

Abel has a smokey, sultry tone to her voice that is comparable to Janice Joplin. There’s a bit of rasp that gives a bit of soul behind the words she’s singing. While she practices for hours on end before the audition, Kailey makes it all look effortless.

It didn’t take long for coach Blake Shelton to press down his button and turn his chair around. All of the coaches loved Kailey’s performance. Since only Blake turned his chair around, she was automatically put on his team. Do you think she has what it takes to win the entire season?
