Roy sings the emotionally-charged lyrics, 'I was alright for a while, I could smile for a while. Then I saw you last night. You held my hand so tight. When you stopped to say hello. You wished me well. You couldn't tell that I'd been crying over you.'

Roy would typically perform standing motionless while wearing black clothes that matched his dyed black hair. He topped off the outfit with his signature dark sunglasses. He had to deal with stage fright his whole career, and it was believed that the glasses helped him stay calm.

Roy was known as 'The Caruso of Rock' and 'The Big O' due to his operatic singing style. He conveyed vulnerability in his lyrics with his emotional ballads.
