Mood rings were the coolest thing ever back in the day. I got mine at the mall in 1975, right when they first came out. Everyone at school was talking about them, and I just had to have one.
The 70s were a wild time. We had disco fever, bell-bottoms were in, and Star Wars was about to change movies forever. Vietnam was finally over, but we were dealing with an oil crisis and inflation. Mood rings were like a little piece of magic in a crazy world.
These groovy rings were supposed to change color based on your mood. Blue meant you were chill, while black meant you were stressed out. I remember thinking it was so rad how it seemed to know what I was feeling. My friends and I would compare our rings at lunch to see who was the most relaxed.
