It’s possible you’ve already heard of Claire Ryann. Not so long ago, she made a big splash on YouTube with a video of her singing “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” from the Disney movie “The Little Mermaid.” She’s older now, although at four, not quite ready for kindergarten! Claire’s dad is a recording professional and they’ve taken things to a whole new level in this video. We’ve posted it below so you can see for yourself.
“Beauty and the Beast” is a French fairy tale first published back in the mid-1700s. It draws on earlier literature and traditional folklore from all over Europe.
In the story, a merchant illicitly picks a rose for his daughter and a literally beastly personage forces him to hand over the daughter, known appropriately enough as Beauty. The Beast attempts to woo Beauty, showering her with gifts and fine clothing but not letting her leave his enchanted palace.
Eventually, the seemingly sinister story ends up taking a heartwarming turn and everyone lives happily ever after. A number of films have been made of “Beauty and the Beast,” including an animated adaptation by Disney with music that earned it two Oscars.
4 year-old Claire and her family made a lovely little video of the song “Tale as Old as Time” from Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast.” They filmed it in the beautiful, sumptuous ballrooms of the historic Davenport Hotel in Spokane, Washington. The cinematography and costumes are superb. But it’s little Claire who steals the show. Her voice is nothing less than angelic and the tender conclusion she gives the song will melt your heart!
