The younger generations only seem to know about St. Patrick’s Day and drinking Guinness when it comes to the Irish culture. In this video, viewers are reminded again of some of the most elements of the Celtic culture.
In this video, cast members from the theatrical show Riverdance join the stage with 500 other Irish Dancers from all over Ireland. This spectacle was filmed at the World Meeting Of Families in Croke Park, Dublin.
Riverdance started off as an interval performance during the 1994 Eurovision contest, and everybody worldwide loved it. A production team realized its potential and turned it into a theatrical show in 1995.
The Riverdance show was taken to over 450 venues worldwide and has been seen by more than 25 million people. This makes Riverdance one of the most successful dance productions ever.
In this video, the act opens with a single lady dancing in front of gigantic screens, showing the surface of a lake or calm ocean. Soon she is joined by another dancer, and so more and more dancers take to the stage.
The hauntingly beautiful music is uplifting and energetic. The perfectly timed dancing gets the adrenalin flowing of the audience and viewers at home. As the music builds up and more dancers arrive, a tingling sensation slowly crawls up the spine.
The tingling sensation erupts at times, rendering the viewer’s entire body in goosebumps. Ralph Anthony commented online: ‘I’m not even remotely Irish, but this performance is hair-raising and brings tears to my eyes. I am so proud of all of them.’
