According to Joel Rosenthal, there is nothing better than taking a casual hike with bears. The former biologist lives at Point of View Farm, West Virginia. He is the only human there.
It is now a bear sanctuary where he cares for them and feeds them himself. He wants them to trust him and bond with him. He does this to ensure that the bears are protected at all times.
The unfortunate truth is that many of the bears in the wild are killed by hunters. He knows that the bears he released to the wild were most likely killed during hunting season.

Many of the bears grow up with him. They play and eat in the house, and he even takes naps with them. When they grow bigger, they move to larger facilities.
Some bears would rather stay with him instead of going into the wild. One of these bears is Waffles, who loves peanut butter. Waffles have his own enclosure.
People from all over contact Joel when they find a bear that is injured or abandoned. Joel takes them in and makes sure they are raised well.
It is his life mission to give these bears the protection they need. Living alone on the farm, Joel can have months pass by without seeing another human being.
