In Houston, Texas, there is a newspaper with a 96-year-old editor named Jeanne Samuels. The newspaper is called The Jewish Herald-Voice, but most people who read it call it The Herald.
Jeanne and her husband, Joseph Samuels, repurchased the paper in 1973. Ever since then, she has been working as the editor. The paper hasn’t missed an issue since it first went to press in 1908.
These days Jeanne works alongside her family Matt and Vicky. Matt, her grandson, talks about how Jeanne works Monday through Friday, and is usually the last one to leave the office.

Vicky, her daughter, makes sure their website is up to date with everything. They are all thankful to be working together and that people in their community have kept the paper alive.
It was several years ago that Joseph Samuels passed away. Hung up on the wall is a page from the newspaper that commemorates his life. It is full of pictures from important memories.
Not one has Jeanne considered retirement. She hopes that she still has a few years ahead of her. Her age has not slowed down her sharpness and discerning eye.
For generations, the Herald has been a part of their family and will continue to be for many more years.
