A Christmas Story was a 1983 popular movie that will make you smile whenever you watch it. It was a holiday classic that kids love to watch even today. The comedy movie was directed by Bob Clark and was based on a 1966 semi-fictional book, “In God We Trust: All Others Pay Cash.”
Recently, one of the clips from the movie gained popularity because of its hilarity. Ralphie Parker (Peter Billingsley), now an adult reminiscing about the past, was a 9-year-old boy living in the imaginary town of Hohman, Indiana.
Peter remembers his memorable school days when Flick (Scott Schwartz) and Schwartz (R D Robb) had an argument before their class. Soon they engaged in a “Triple Dog dare” challenge.
Most of the kids from Ralphie’s class were standing underneath the flag pole while Flick & Schwartz had an argument. It was over what would happen if someone stuck their tongue on a flagpole. So Schwartz dares Flick to stick his tongue out on the rusted, frozen flagpole. Flick daringly accepts the “Triple Dog dare,” and complications ensue for the poor boy.
He gets his tongue stuck on the flag pole instantly. Schwartz’s hilarious reaction, “Geez, it really worked,” leaves the viewers laughing hysterically. Flick was so scared that he started screaming and freaking out. The other kids are shocked by the expression on his face. The looks on their faces while staring at their poor friend is hilarious. However, as the recess bell rings, everyone leaves Flick behind on their way to the class.
Poor Flick keeps on saying, “Come back! Don’t leave me; come back!” Finally, the little boy is saved by his concerned teacher, a few cops, and first responders. The humor in the old-day classic movies was very different. The skilled actors and the storyline ensured that the audience was entertained.
One of the online comments said, “My favorite part is how all of the kids jumped up from their desks to look out the window EXCEPT for the guilty ones.” While another said, “I watch this every year! It’s a ritual…lol! Reminds me of my school and my childhood! Love it!” This is an absolute timeless classic and will never get old.
