A man struggles to say, “Baked in a buttery, flaky crust.” His attempt has the Internet LOL

When a company decides to film an ad, they are hoping to bring more people in to try their products or services and make some money from it. This is exactly what Dysart’s Restaurant in Bangor, Maine was hoping to get. They did everything their marketing department suggested, but unfortunately, things didn’t turn out as planned during the filming.

The commercial featured two amateur actors. He is an older man called Jack Palmer. The problem was that this gentleman could not remember the “buttery, flaky crust” line. His co-star is his wife of 57 years, Sonja. Even though she was trying to keep it cool, it became obvious that she was getting very annoyed with her husband’s blundering. She later explained that the restaurant was very busy at the time of the filming and that it had been very distracting.

“I just couldn’t remember my lines,” Jack said. “A few more minutes, and it would have been dreadful. Every time I looked over she had that look in her eye.” Obviously for Jack, feeling his wife’s stares were not helping one bit. After he flopped, he would try and regain his composure, but he wouldn’t be able to. Then, he would look at his wife and everything would start all over again.

Suddenly, something they weren’t expecting happened—someone shared the outtakes of the commercial on the Internet, and people thought that the couple was hilarious! Apparently, Jack had stumbled into fame in a way he wasn’t expecting to. It was a combination of Jack’s blunders and Sonja’s expressions of frustration that made the outtakes so well-liked. Fortunately, it was a win-win situation for everyone because the restaurant got more business, and Jack and Sonja became small celebrities.

Jack said that people believed they were famous but that he didn’t like that label. “We’re just ordinary people,” said Jack. “Kids come up to me and say, ‘Baked in a buttery, flaky crust’ and then say ‘Ha, I got it!’ I say it in my sleep now. And I still screw it up.” Sonja went on to say that hundreds of people have come up to her looking for a picture or an autograph. Even some people from Arizona called in to order a chicken pie, and they said it had been because of them. Some teenagers thought they were famous and cool. She said, “I met four boys in their 20s here, and they came up to me and asked if they could have their picture taken with me. I thought they were kidding, but they said ‘No ma’am, you’re so popular. We really want to have our picture taken with you.’ I couldn’t believe it.”
