We all know zebras as the majestic striped wild animals that roam the land of Africa. You’ll be surprised to see that there was a baby zebra photographed in its natural habitat that had spots instead of stripes.
Antony Tira is a wildlife photographer who just happened to be in the right place at the right time. When he found a baby zebra who had white spots all over its brown coat, he had thought rangers painted it to keep track of the small creature.
The truth is that this is one of the first baby zebras to be born with a rare melanin disorder. While the little cutie may look adorable with his spotted body, there are a few things to keep in mind. Zebras stripes are how the animal keeps cool during the hot summer days.
The stripes are also used as camouflage from predators. Our fingers are crossed that the predators don’t notice his unique coat. We hope that the spotted zebra can stay well-hydrated and cool during the summer without any stripes.
