As you probably know already by other elephant videos that we’ve shared before, these beautiful creatures are famous all around their world for their kindness and their naturally social personalities. They form deep bonds amongst themselves in their herds. However, when held in captivity with other animals in a proper and healthy way, such as in this sanctuary in Tennessee, they can also become the best of friends with animals you would never expect them to bond with.
There is one particular elephant in an animal sanctuary in Tennessee who is quickly becoming famous online for her adorable relationship with a dog. Her name is Tarra, and she is an Asian elephant who has been friends with Bella, a dog who lives in the elephant sanctuary, and who acts as a sort of “sheepdog” for them. This sanctuary in Tennessee does not allow tourists or tours. They accept donations purely to help these elephants who were usually not treated very well before the sanctuary rescued them from different parts of the world. This is a place for them to roam free and be elephants rather than tourist attractions. Bella the dog helps them, especially Tarra, to do that.
They have been friends for almost ten years now, and their happiness was abruptly put to a halt when Bella suffered a bad back injury, which put her in bed for a good while. The video below shows how Tarra faithfully waited for her friend, and tried to look at her from outside her window to check on her. She clearly missed her friend and was worried about her, sensing that she was not well. Narrated by Oprah Winfrey, this video is sure to make you feel good.
