Although He’s Losing His Memory, Glen Campbell’s Wife Says He Can ‘Sense God’s Presence’

Glen Campbell is an icon in the country music and rock scene. He’s been in show business for over fifty years, and has released more than seventy albums. He’s best known for his releases from the 1960s and ‘70s, as well as his comedy and music variety show The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour.

Glen is in his 80s now, and time has taken it’s toll. His wife, Kim, says his memory isn’t as good as it used to be, but there’s one things he’ll always remember. His love of God.

Not long ago Kim revealed that Glen is in the final stages of Alzheimer’s Disease. He’s lost most of his ability to communicate, and his muscle memory has deteriorated as well. This makes him unable to play his beloved guitar.

“I don’t even know if he knows what it’s for,” she told The Toronto Star. “But our children come and play for him. It’s hard to tell if he’s responding to it much. Sometimes he’ll listen, and sometimes he’s distracted. He’s in his own world right now.”

Despite the effects of Alzheimer’s, Glen has maintained his awareness of God, a fact that Kim says puts her at ease. With that strong in his mind, there is nothing the deterioration of his body can truly take from him.
