The 22-year-old became the second American to win the men’s singles gold in 30 years. The Olympic announcers compared him to legends like Tom Brady, Tiger Woods, and Michael Jordan.

Just four years earlier, he faced disappointment. In PyeongChang, he placed fourth in the team event’s short program and 17th in the singles competition’s short program. Nathan put all of that behind him, scoring 332.60 points in the free skate.

Even Elton John noticed the fantastic talent displayed when he tweeted, ‘Congratulations @nathanwchen for winning Gold skating to Rocket Man in the free skate finals in Beijing.’
