An Antique Dealer’s Storage Shed That Hasn’t Been Opened In Years! What Could You Find?

American Pickers is an American reality television series. The show follows antique and collectible pickers Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz who travel around the United States to buy or “pick” various items for resale, for clients, or for their own personal collections. The men go on the road, not only following up leads that Danielle Colby has generated, but also “free-styling” – stopping at places that look like they might hold items worth buying. They also pick some places more than once.

During their travels, these guys get to see all the wonderful and interesting items from the past, and hear the stories associated with the items connected to the past.

In the clip, Mike and Robby travel to Washington State to check out an Antique Dealer’s storage unit. The storage unit that these two guys are going to check out hasn’t been opened in years!

You can see that this place is jam-packed with awesome items, including that coin-operated piano.

Coin-operated music boxes and player pianos were the first forms of automated coin-operated musical devices. These instruments used paper rolls, metal disks, or metal cylinders to play a musical selection on the instrument, or instruments, enclosed within the device.

Early designs, upon receiving a coin, unlocked the mechanism, allowing the listener to turn a crank that simultaneously wound the spring motor and placed the reproducer’s stylus in the starting groove. Some machines even contained carousels and other mechanisms for playing multiple records. Most machines were capable of holding only one musical selection.

What do you think of Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz from “American Pickers” being able to go through an antiques unit that hadn’t been opened in years? What did you like the most inside of the unit? Use the comments section below and share your thoughts. We’d love to hear from you!
