Archie Bunker tries to talk to Meathead but gets distracted when he notices him doing something peculiar. At that moment, Archie stops to point out what Meathead is doing.
Sitting on the bed, Meathead was getting ready to leave. He did so by putting on a sock and then a shoe. Archie asks what he is doing, and Meathead is confused by his question.
What about the other foot, Archie wonders. He is going to get to it, Meathead replies. Archie retorts by saying that the whole world puts on a sock then a sock, and then a shoe then a shoe.
Meathead is unphased and states that he likes to take care of one foot at a time. There is a long pause and Archie finally says that was the dumbest thing he ever heard.
As Meathead tries to put on a sock Archie has to stop him by snatching it from his hands. He then takes a seat next to Meathead. He cannot believe how ridiculous the situation is.
Archie declares that if the house was on fire then Meathead’s feet will end up with only one shoe. Meathead responds, if it is raining or snowing outside at least he could hop on one shoe.
The conversation ends with Archie leaving the room shouting that they are in a rush. Another great part about the sketch was that it was entirely improvised between the two.
