In this scene, the facial expressions and physical comedy are hysterical as Edith tries to block Archie from seeing the picture on his side table of Lionel and Archie’s niece. It starts with Edith and Archie standing in front of each other as she tries to block him from sitting.

Archie asks, ‘Do you mind if I sit?’ Edith says, ‘Sure,’ in a nervous but funny tone, but she still doesn’t move. Archie says, ‘Would you mind getting out of my way!?’ Edith runs to the other chair right next to Archie’s chair. She stares at him intensely, and he says, ‘What are you gawking at? Grab me a can of beer and some matches.’

She runs to hide the picture, and he catches her before she can grab it. She smiles awkwardly, and he says, ‘What is wrong with you? You aren’t going through that change thing again, are you?’ The crowd cracks up.

Edith even tries to distract him with a cold beer. She maneuvers around the living room to lead his eyes away from the framed picture. None of it works, and Archie finally sits down right next to the picture and glances at it quickly. He acts like nothing is wrong and cracks open his newspaper.

A few seconds later, he realizes what he just saw and stares out at the audience as they laugh for at least 10 seconds. Archie holds the comical stare and says, ‘What is this?’

Edith looks at him, and he says, ‘Linda! This is the kind of fun she is having in our house!’ Then, the kids rush in and ask what’s going on, and Archie puts his hands up and yells, ‘This is what’s going on!’
