It is a seemingly ordinary day at the Bunkers’ house when suddenly, there’s a knock on the door. But this is no standard visit. Instead, a man claiming to be a government agent appears, inquiring about their neighbor, Larry Grundy.

Little does Archie Bunker (Carroll O’Connor) know that this encounter is just the beginning of a comical chain of events that will keep you chuckling from start to finish. First, Archie gets a call from his neighbor, telling him he is also being investigated.

The man who takes pride in himself for being a patriot and a no-nonsense kind of guy suddenly starts seeing spies behind every bush and under every rock. However, his son-in-law, Michael Stivic, tells him that it is normal and that he does not need to be tense about it.

Archie’s wife, Edith Bunker (Jean Stapleton), and their daughter, Gloria Bunker-Stivic (Sally Struthers), even question the presence of FBI agents and express their curiosity. Edith also approaches Archie innocently, but her reaction to her husband’s suspicion is enough to make a saint chuckle.

Confident of an FBI surveillance outpost, Archie searches the whole house, rummaging through every nook and cranny, convinced he would unearth hidden microphones and cameras. His mischievous son-in-law teases him with a torn shirt button, telling him he has found a bug.

Just when Archie thinks that everything is alright, the doorbell rings. With anxiety and anticipation, he delegates the task of answering the door to Edith, cautioning her about the disguise the FBI agents might employ.

Edith opens the door, recognizing the face before her. With a puzzled expression, she looks back at Archie and exclaims, “Oh, I think it’s Lionel!” The viewers can’t help but burst into fits of laughter, captivated by Edith’s hilarious reaction.
