Logan Blade was only two years old when he was diagnosed with autism. At the time, he was able to say ‘mama’ and ‘dada’, but only barely. Soon after his diagnosis, his limited speech dwindled to nothing.
When Logan reached kindergarten, his parents discovered he could read at a much higher level than anticipated, and could spell words like encyclopedia and astronaut. And yet, he could only answer simple yes or no questions.
About a year after his diagnosis, Logan began playing the piano. He had no training at that point, though his parents were quick to find him a teacher, Kim Sutton. It was when he started working with Kim that she discovered not only could he play piano, he could also sing!
According to Logan’s bio on midtnmusic.com, you can “put a microphone in his hand and you know there is a God because he has perfect pitch…He can also hear a song and then play it by heart.”
Logan recently performed a stunning rendition of Willie Nelson’s “Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain”. Nelson caught the performance, and shared the video to Facebook, saying: “Logan is Autistic. He has little to no speech. But he can sing Willie Nelson’s music. Great job Logan!”
