A video of a best man making a speech at his brother’s wedding is touching hearts on the internet. Unlike the millions of other best-man-speech videos out there, this one is unique because the best man overcame immense social anxiety caused by his autism.
“My name is Sam Waldron, and I am the best man to the best brother I could’ve ever asked for.” The nervous young man says as he shakingly holds out the piece of paper with the speech in front of him.
Immediately, his brother’s eyes water up as he is overwhelmed by the words of his loving brother. His tears are swept away soon after as his brother starts cracking jokes about the family and their relationships.
“Our family is like a good fudge. Mostly sweet but with a bunch of nuts.” The young man says, and all 170 guests burst out in laughter. Through the laughter, the signs of autism and his anxiety become apparent.
One inspired viewer commented: “His hands are shaking, and the way he’s rocking side to side are signs that his anxiety is present. He still did a fantastic job – just phenomenal.”
At the beginning of the speech, Sam Waldron admits that he is autistic and that speaking with people makes him incredibly anxious. He adds to his confession by saying, “There are only two people in the whole world I would do this speech for, and that is Maddy (the bride) and Jonah.”
The jokes he makes are hilarious and have the audience in stitches. The courage he displays is inspiring and leaves everybody in awe. It’s a feel-good video that demonstrates courage and brotherly love beautifully.
