Louise is a sweet little baby that loves to hear her mom sing “Amazing Grace.” She is also a beautiful little girl that has albinism. This condition causes poor eyesight, so Louise can’t see so well and this beautiful little girl needed glasses, even as a baby. This video is short and only gives you a glimpse of this mother’s relationship with her daughter.
Albinism.org describes what having it entails. People with albinism have little or no pigment in their eyes, skin, or hair. They have inherited altered genes that do not make the usual amounts of a pigment called melanin. This inherited condition effects 1 in 17,000 people in the US of any race. While affecting pigmentation, it also is linked to vision and skin problems, so Louise’s parents take excellent care of her so she doesn’t suffer with these issues.
In this video, little Louise is getting a pair of glasses for the very first time. She can now really see what her mom looks like. The look on her face is truly priceless. Louise’s mom hesitated to post the video on YouTube, but then she decided to so that other parents with children with vision problems would have hope. The glasses were not a cure, but they certainly made a big difference.
Louise’s mom, Megan McMorris, talks about when she found out about Louise’s albinism in another video. She was on her local news station and shared her story so that others could learn and share their experience with albinism.
