Baby handed his first lemon slice. His reaction after eating it made me laugh so hard.

One of the funniest things to watch is when someone tries a new kind of food. After their first bite, after a few seconds, their facial expressions can range from “Wow! This is incredible! I want more of this!” to “This is horrible. I wouldn’t take another bite if you offered me a million dollars.” It also depends on the social setting. If they are with someone that they love or are trying to impress, they may stifle their reaction. I would take another bite for a billion, if you really want to know.

We see a video compilation that shows only one activity – a baby being handed a wedge of lemon and recording their reaction – which run the run the gamut from “Yay! This is great!” to “This is horrible and I would rather drink sewer water instead of this.” There’s not a whole lot of in-between with these tykes. It’s funny seeing their delayed reactions too. For the record: My son loved lemon slices when he was a baby.

Some of these babies screw their faces in an instant grimace of dislike… but then go back for a second try! It’s almost like they are trying Guiness ale. I hear that it’s terrible the first two times you try it, but then you like it the third. I wouldn’t know about that. I gave up after the first sip. The baby should have given up after the first try. One of them did… he swatted away that lemon slice like he was Dikembe Mutombo.

The first thing that popped to mind was the first line of Radiohead’s sublime song “Everything in Its Right Place”: Woke up this morning sucking on a lemon… Seems pretty appropriate. What’s also funny is that this is a compilation from 2014. There was a link for ‘15 and I’m pretty sure that ’16 is being edited. This is something that could go on forever, since babies are always being born and we won’t run out of lemons.

Do you remember what your first time with a lemon was like? Also, I have that Radiohead song totally stuck in your brain now, right? Tell us your thoughts in the comments section!
