There are fewer forces in the universe stronger than the mother-child bond. Well, maybe the gravitational force of a black hole, but it would still have to work a bit to tear a mother and her child apart. Once the child has come into the world, the mother drops EVERYTHING to take care of him or her in their first days.
Need further proof of the unshakable power of a mother’s love? Take a look at this video that was made at the Monterey Bay Aquarium to see it in action.
We see a mother otter floating on her back and a baby otter nestled on her chest. The baby is fast asleep while the mother is continually fidgeting with her to make sure her newest addition doesn’t fall off her and into the water. Otters sleep on their back’s anyway, but she has to wait for her daughter to get older before that can happen. Nobody’s in a hurry since this is one of the cutest things I’ve ever seen.
This baby otter is the picture of being blissfully asleep. As well as she should be… she’s all of a day old. The people who were at the aquarium that day were in a lot of luck being able to watch this unfold before them. I would have taken roughly 1,000 pictures and a lot of videos. “Why is your cloud storage full?” “Otters.” “Otters? OK, that’s reasonable. We’ll upgrade you, free of charge.”
One thing that I will say is that I was finishing this one up before going to bed and the sight of this mother/baby scene made me very sleepy. I wound up having to put on some music with a driving beat to wake me up because those two are hypnotic while just floating there. You can’t tell me that this isn’t an incredibly serene scene that makes you want to go to sl – OK that was my joke that I’d fallen asleep.
