Putting on a show in front of your entire school is no easy task, especially as a middle-schooler. There is always a possibility of some mishap when you’ve to think quickly and cover it up.
A similar incident took place at the Eisenhower Junior High in Darien, Illinois, where a middle school cymbal band player encountered a huge mishap during a concert. However, what he did next left everyone speechless. Needless to say, this incident’s video has garnered over 10 million YouTube views!
Before the concert started, the school’s band had to start with the national anthem. Once the announcement was made, the audience stood up and faced the national flag out of respect. Some students, including the cymbalist, stood in the center, right behind the flag.

During the national anthem, the cymbalist crashed the cymbals together as practiced. Now, the performance was going pretty smooth until the cymbal’s handle broke and the instrument fell on the floor with a crash!
The entire situation around the cymbalist somewhat changed. The other band players around him kept looking at him with worried glances. After all, how could he play with just one cymbal? But what he did next is epic.
The cymbalist put the other cymbal on the floor too, and suddenly an excellent idea hit him. He faced the national flag, stood like a statue, and started saluting it. The drummers beside him couldn’t control their giggles.
Soon enough, this clip went viral on YouTube, with many viewers commending the cymbalist’s patriotic move when things went wrong. So, even though the day started as a disaster, the boy ended up becoming an internet sensation!
