Ben Platt Can Get You Through Your Worst Times With 'You Will Be Found'

Ben Platt put on a riveting performance through his outstanding performance of Dear Evan Hansen's "You Will Be Found" to promote the upcoming film adaptation. His performance was a nice change of pace from the anxiety of the night. Two Golden Buzzers ended up on instant save.

Platt originated the musical's lead role of Evan Hansen, playing the role from early workshops to off-Broadway to Broadway. His performance earned him the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical. Platt ended his Broadway run in 2017 but returns to the role for the film adaptation.

Ben Platt showcase again in his Tony-winning role as Evan Hansen, a very lonely and anxious high school student who usually writes motivational letters to himself on an assignment given by his therapist. Evan's classmate, named Connor Murphy, gets ahold of one of these letters and shortly after commits suicide with the letter in his pocket.

This leads his family to believe that Connor wrote the letter as a suicide note for Evan before he died. Caught up in the lie of being Connor's best friend, Evan forms a relationship with the Murphy family as well as plans a memorial service for Connor at school, gradually learning more about Connor, and himself, as he goes along.

The script for Dear Evan Hansen was written by Steven Levenson, who also wrote the screenplay for the film version, with music and lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.

As initially reported in a Washington Post profile on Pasek and Paul, the show's story "emanates from a traumatic event" at Pasek High School in suburban Philadelphia.

Evan Hansen's beloved star Ben Platt was on hand to remind us that we will be in for his wonderful performance. On May 18, Universal released the first trailer for the new Dear Evan Hansen movie.
