Betty White made television history with her role as the adorably dotty Rose Nylund on the NBC hit sitcom The Golden Girls.
While it is an ensemble cast, many would consider Betty White’s character, Rose Nylund, the show’s star. She was portrayed as naïve and simple, although the most kind-hearted of the group.
Although she was the most kind-hearted of the lot, her quirky personality always got on everyone else’s last nerve.
One of Rose’s funniest quirks was her affinity for the Nordic languages and her constant use of Scandinavian euphemisms that nobody else ever understood.

She was best known for her long-winded, funny stories about her eccentric hometown of St. Olaf, Minnesota. Her roommates endured these stories with exasperated silence and the occasional muttered punchline.
She always had to invariably explain herself after these outbursts. Still, it never seemed to occur to her to stick to English to save time. And her roommates never missed an opportunity to say something snarky to her in frustration.
This quirk made her the most endearing character on the show for many. There are tons of compilations of Rose going Scandinavian on The Golden Girls.
This video is one such compilation and has already received tens of thousands of views on the YouTube channel of TV Land.
