Blake Shelton Receives Inspiration For Moving Gospel Song In A Dream. INCREDIBLE!

The summer of 2015 was rough for country music star Blake Shelton. Following a four year marriage, Shelton went through a very public divorce from fellow country star Miranda Lambert.

The experience acted as a source of inspiration for Shelton. Like all true artists he was able to channel his pain and confusion into his work, and came out with some of his most personal and moving songs to date. Many of these songs appear on Shelton’s newest album, If I’m Honest.

“I’ve written more than I’ve written in 15 years, for obvious reasons — all the awful things that have happened in my personal life — but the way the year ended is also the greatest of my life,” Shelton told Country Countdown USA. “If I got hit by a truck, the label would have enough for a new album.”

The first single from the album, “Came Here To Forget”, is pretty much what you can expect from a man who’s just been through a nasty divorce. The lyrics tell of two recently heart-broken people helping one another forget their past.

The second single may come as more of a surprise, however. “Savior’s Shadow” is a full-blown gospel tune, which Shelton says came to him in a dream. “I dreamed the song last summer.. I woke up and wrote down everything I could remember,” he told Twitter.
