Bold man meets wolves on their turf — they think he’s the greatest

Wolves are amazing and beautiful creatures but you’d probably prefer not to see one in person, at least not unless there was a nice, sturdy fence between you and the wolf. A visitor to the Kolmarden Wildlife Park in Sweden had a chance to get up close and personal with some wolves. All went well — in fact, they really seemed to like him.

The Kolmarden Wildlife Park, located southwest of Stockholm, opened in 1965 and has since become a favorite regional attraction. Visitors can see a variety of animals in a number of different habitats, everything from polar bears, to dolphins, gorillas, llamas, and giraffes. The wolves live in a forest habitat and until fairly recently, you could pay extra to enter the wolf enclosure (if you dared) and have a close encounter with the park’s semi-tame wolves.

As you’ll see in the video posted below, a man who summoned up the courage to set foot in the wolf enclosure ended up having a great time. The wolves immediately took a liking to him. Acting almost like friendly cats, they rubbed their chins and the sides of their faces against his head, licked his hair lavishly, and bumped their bodies against him. They threw in some wolf hugs, too. However nervous the man was, he also cracked plenty of smiles while the wolves went to town on him.

The wolves normally weren’t nearly this friendly with visitors. It may be that there was something about his demeanor they liked — perhaps he gave off an animal-lover vibe. Another possibility is that he used hair gel and that’s what had the wolves going bonkers. Moral of the story: be careful what “product” you use if you go out in the woods!
