It’s not unusual for someone to choose their favorite pop, rock, or country song to perform for an audition. Somer Smith picked an old hymn for her blind audition on The Voice in Australia. Just wait until you hear the pipes on this lady.
Classic hymns can be hard to sing, but Somer seems to make her rendition sound effortless. Some of the uplifting lyrics are “I sing because I’m happy. I sing because I’m free. For His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.”
Her soulful voice fills the arena as she begins to sing. Somer isn’t even able to finish the first verse before three of the judges turn around. Impressed with her incredible talent, they all wanted to coach her through the rest of the show.
It didn’t take long for the final judge to turn around. It was up to Somer to choose who’s team she would join. While we don’t find out who she picked in the video, you can’t help but wonder how far this talented young lady will go in the music industry.
