Brooke Simpson, a 30-year-old singer from Hollister, North Carolina, is taking ‘America’s Got Talent’ by the storm with her stunning voice and inspiring story of the roots that helped her develop it.

“I am a part of Haliwa-Saponi tribe, 100% Native American, and I absolutely love where I come from,” said Simpson in her pre-show interview: “They are the reason I am even singing today.”

‘The Voice’ fan-favorite doesn’t shy away from the challenge as she picks Lizzo’s ‘Cuz I Love You’, a big band soul moment that flexes the vocalist’s powers to the limit, as the song she’ll sing at ‘America’s Got Talent’.

Brooke didn’t disappoint. Accompanied by her husband and pianist Ray Simpsons, she blows the minds of the judges and the audience with her fantastic belting tribute to Lizzo.

“It reminded me when I used to be on Idol,” reminisced Simon Cowell, “and every so often these great, great singers would come on the show, like the Kelly Clarkson’s Fantasia, and people like yourself.”

The praise and assurances from all four judges will undoubtedly bring her closer to her dream of being the first indigenous person to win the show and set an example for other people to come.

“So often we are erased from conversation,” she adds with a hint of sadness and continues: “I want to make sure they never forget us again.” As hopeful and inspiring, Brooks is undoubtedly paving the way.
