Cargo Trailer Tiny House Is Perfect for Blending In

A cozy cabin interior with wooden walls, a bed, a microwave, and a small window.

Jim lives in a cargo trailer that he converted himself into a tiny home. At 8.5 feet by 20 feet, he had limited space to work with but was still able to build a house that suits him perfectly.

He even lived in the trailer as he converted it, which he says he would not do again. It did help him really visualize what would fit in the small space.

Jim works as a self-employed carpenter and completed the conversion in about two months. His professional knowledge and experience led him to include several different types of wood and build a ton of storage.

His kitchen is minimalist because Jim prefers to cook most meals in one pan on a single butane burner. He prioritizes simplicity in the kitchen and has very few appliances.

The star of the tiny home is the remote-controlled murphy bed that Jim installed himself with an ATV winch. The queen-size mattress can retract entirely into the wall to provide project space when needed.

Jim spent a decade of his life on the road as a semi-truck driver hauling cargo across the country. Now, he spends his days hauling his home wherever his heart desires!

He says his only regret about tiny living is that he didn’t start twenty-five years ago. He recommends the lifestyle to people of all ages who are considering downsizing.
