The Carol Burnett Show was a laugh riot that kept America in stitches every Saturday night. Those comedy sketches were pure gold, especially when Carol and Harvey Korman teamed up. You just knew you were in for a treat when those two got going.
One of my favorite bits was when Carol played the long-suffering wife dealing with her husband’s overbearing sister. The way she’d roll her eyes and deadpan those zingers had me in tears. And Harvey as the clueless husband caught in the middle – classic!
Remember that banana peel gag that started it all?
The sister comes barging in after hearing about a minor injury, acting like it’s a national emergency. Carol’s fake smile as she greets her was priceless. You could just feel the tension brewing.
As the sister fusses and hovers, Carol keeps slipping in these subtle digs that go right over Harvey’s head. The timing was impeccable. And don’t get me started on that bit with the coffee order – I still crack up thinking about it.
By the end, when Carol suggests the hotel and the sister insists on sleeping on the floor, I was howling. The look on Carol’s face said it all.
