‘The Carol Burnett Show’ featured a Hollywood Hospital skit. Harvey Korman has a quick dialogue talking about awesome advertisements that are banned from the world.
Harvey says, “For instance, what if they allowed hospitals, doctors, and lawyers to advertise? Now their TV commercials might look something like this. Or maybe they won’t.”
Carol is dressed up as a nurse and says, “Hi there, and welcome to United Hospital. The hospital of the stars.” She walks over to a patient who is pale, skinny, and slouched while wearing a white tank top that says “United” on it and neon green boxers, and black socks.
Carol says it’s a patient named Sydney Gruskin, and they’re a hypochondriac. She says they gave him twenty surgeries and says it was all paid for on his ‘United’ credit card.
Then, Carol shows the nurses’ new uniforms, and one walks out behind a curtain. It is a bright, flowery suit with bright pinks, reds, and greens. She walks out and styles the outfit.
The last nurse to walk out and style a piece of clothing picks up the patient and walks him back into the curtain. Then, a man walks out and starts putting his arms around Carol, and she says he gives the best bedside care.
Then, in the end, she sings their jingle and asks, “Is this any way to run a hospital? You bet it is.” The whole skit is a hilarious look at an imaginary celebrity hospital.
