This is a story about a true survivor who was born with a serious disadvantage in life, but he kept plugging away and after receiving help, he is now thriving. His name is Stockings, born with backward legs, but his story only begins there. Fortunately, good people gave this kitty a chance to run and walk just like any other cat because they believed in him and believed he could be helped and have a normal, happy life.
Stockings was taken in by Chicago’s Tree House Humane Society when he was a few weeks old. The organization was really eager to help this cat have his hind legs reconstructed to face forward, so they talked to an orthopedic veterinarian, Dr. Steve Neihaus. I didn’t even know there was such a thing, but this vet is a true miracle worker. Through this video, they were able to gather the necessary resources to allow Stockings to undergo the surgery he desperately needed. And indeed, it was a success! A few weeks after, he is already standing and chasing people around the room. His prognosis is excellent and his rescuers and Dr. Neihaus believe that he will fully recover and lead a normal life. It really touched my heart knowing this kitty can now fully enjoy being a cat!
